KRES CYCLES Update - Kres Apparel

KRES APPAREL Coming Soon

Happy belated New Year to everyone from the KRES team.  We had hoped to bring you some exciting news about our products at Christmas but due to unforeseen setbacks with our schedule things were not quite ready at the time. The development of the KRES APPAREL range has taken longer than anticipated but we believe the net result of this will be a better product.  We are now back on track and feel the timing is right to tell you what we’ve got planned. Over the coming months we will be looking to release the range exclusively to all of our subscribers along with some unique offers as a way of saying thanks for your support and patience. This will also coincide with the release of a re-worked KRES PISTA, and a formalized pricing structure for our bike frames, so stay tuned.

KRES BIKE COMPETITION
The official competition is over and unfortunately we did not reach our target of 2000 subscribers. However, we are 100% committed to providing all our subscribers the opportunity to win a KRES frame set, ( your choice of Pista or Strada ) and will do this by entering everyone into a draw which will coincide with the release of our apparel range. We are working towards this happening over the coming months.

Thanks again to all and all the best for 2014

NEW SUBSCRIBERS can sign up here to be included in all of our draws and unique offers.

A Melbourne Handcrafted Bike - The KRES Pista

Well its been a while in the making, but it has finally arrived. We have pondered, discussed, argued, and revised, but more importantly we have learnt quite a bit about the process of custom bike building. All in all we think we've done a good job.

Without going into too much detail, the bike is a combination of columbus tubing and specialist tubing used in the motor sport and aeronautical industries. We fell in love with the profile that the aero tubing gives the bike so what better way to show it off than on a minimalist track bike. You can read more about the bike and see more pictures at CYCLE EXIF .
A big thanks to Adam the editor of @CycleEXIF for showing support in running the story.

We have a couple more bikes underway which we will be showing off in the next month or so, one of these will be a lugged frame, so stay tuned. We are also looking at releasing some stylish apparel before year end.

In the meantime, if you like what we are doing then why not enter the KRES COMPETITION for a chance to win your choice of a KRES bespoke bike and also be the first to know about all our upcoming news.

La Course en Tete

If you are in to cycle racing and especially the racing of yesteryear then this movie is a must see.  The movie is a bio on the great Eddie Merckx and was made by French filmaker Joel Santoni in 1973. The title refers to his style of riding ( always at the head of the pack ). The movie was shot over the course of one year and although it received critical acclaim it was quickly forgotten about.
It is now available on DVD.
Original movie poster below.

For a preview of the documentary check out this youtube video. But definetely go and buy the DVD as it comes with another great cycling documentary of the time "The Greatest Show on Earth " focusing on the Giro d'Italia of 1974.

GRAN FONDO Beechworth

KRES will be participating at GRAN FONDO Beechworth this coming weekend and in particular  the L'eroica leg of the event . A tribute to  the racing of yesteryear in which all participants must ride bikes of pre 1987 vintage. The race is based on  L'eroica in Tuscany Italy which runs each year.
For an insight into what L'eroica is all about, check out this great mini doco on L'eroica Italy.

A Tribute to a Master Craftsman & Visionary

The Great Tulio Campagnolo
Master Craftsman definitely. Visionary well maybe occasionally as he did after all dismiss the Japanese competition as small fry.

Titanium Bike

A type of bike we hope to be able to produce at KRES .... Titanium that is.
